We pride ourselves on hands on management, and our ability to react to global situations to ensure our customers are able to deliver their products in a safe, economical and timely manner to their respective marketplaces.

North Star Container (NSC) provides containerized ocean freight services to exporters of grain and grain products. NSC is licensed as a non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) by the Federal Maritime Commission to operate as an ocean transport intermediary (OTI), enabling North Star Container to contract ocean shipping rates with commercial shipping lines and reselling those rates/services to our customers. Because we generate ocean bills of lading directly to our customers, they are able to directly track and trace their shipments.

Containerized Shipping Flexible and Scalable
NSC leverages volumes and relationships with ocean carriers to provide our customers a variety of shipping options based on the origination of their products. We have contracts with multiple ocean carriers to support our volume and service requirements. We have contracts with the world’s top five ocean carriers, and round out our carrier coverage with niche operators that give North Star Container a broad network of available equipment and a variety of port options in both Canada and the U.S. In addition to our U.S. network, we have an extensive agency network in Japan and other Asian countries to support our customers’ requirements.

Expert Leadership
Robert (Bob) Reinecke, president of NSC, has more than 20 years of experience in global shipping with CP Ships and Hapag-Lloyd. He has extensive experience in linking Midwest commodities with global markets. While with CP Ships, Reinecke launched their Midwest Transpacific platform that increased volume and services in both the U.S. and Canada.

North Star Container, a subsidiary of North Star Rail Intermodal, LLC, partners with its sister companies, North Star Grain International and NSTerminals, to provide bin to buyer marketing and transportation services to producers and buyers of grain and grain products. North Star Rail Intermodal is headquartered in Edina, Minn.
